For pros and amateurs in the world fo SCUBA diving, making sure to know when the water is right, and when it is the safest to get out there and diver, are essential not only for your safety, but to ensure you get the best diving experience. If the waters are not clear, or there are certain conditions in the ocean that can block your vision, it might not be the safest or the smartest time to dive in. But, knowing about the waters, the conditions, and the surroundings of where you are diving, will not only ensure your safety, but will also ensure the clearest waters, to give you the best diving experience you could hope for.

So, when should you dive? First you want to make sure the water is clear of any darker or possibly dangerous chemicals or hazzards around. You also want to make sure it is deep enough to get a good dive, but still close enough to the surface that in case something goes wrong, people on your boat can see you to get you help. Finding the right diving spots is a matter of trial and error, and after some time you will know where to dive.

Scuba diving has become and international phenomenon mainly due to the very interesting things that you can find under the water. There is one form of scuba diving increasingly growing in popularity, wreck diving. When diving to find shipwrecks there are a few places where you may have better luck than others.

The island of Grenada is possibly the best place in the world to look at shipwrecks while diving. It is so good, in fact, that it has been given nicknames like Isle of Wrecks and Titanic of the Caribbean. The island is home to the Bianca C, a wrecked cruise ship that is roughly the size of two football fields. IF you are looking for a place that has sights for both a novice diver as well as a seasoned pro then Grenada may be the sight for you.

Another great place to go wreck diving is the Riviera Maya in Mexico. The sight is home to a Shrimp boat roughly 100 feet long. The most interesting part of this attraction is the multitude of different types of animal and plant life you will find in and around the boat. This includes barracudas and many types of beautiful coral.

For avid SCUBA divers, there is always a danger of something going wrong. Therefore, ensuring you are safe while out on a dive, you must take the proper equipment and gear along if something does go wrong, in order to alert others where to search for you. One of the most basic, yet probably most essential things is a safety whistle. The whistles which are designed for SCUBA diving have been specifically designed to reach high pitches, and allow people where you are from great distances away.

Another great thing to take along is a scuba dye marker. This is similar to a bouy which is out on the ocean for where swimmers should not go past. The dye marker will be set off by the diver and it will float to the surface to alert rescuers where to search for you. If your tank is running low, or you are having difficulties of any kind under water, this dye marker is a great tool to inform searchers where you are. The bright vibrant colors will set of a clue, and will give a lead as to some kind of danger.

No matter how experienced you are, you must make sure to have the right equipment to keep safe while diving.

As a SCUBA enthusiast you’re probably just counting down the days until your next dive but if you don’t have the funds or the vacation time to take a trip, get on board with some of the best SCUBA movies out there! Check your direct channels for reruns or hit the video store for a DVD – here are our picks for the top three SCUBA movies of all time…
Into the Deep: First released as an IMAX film two years ago, Into the Deep provides a fascinating look at the underwater cultures and animals thriving in the sea. It’s like you’re really there when you weave through the coral and if you get the 3D version you’ll feel even more seasick…
Deep Blue Sea: This one’s more of a thriller than a documentary but it stars Jessica Alba and Samuel L. Jackson and there are giant sharks! It’s a good time for all but be careful about watching if you’re at all squeamish about going underwater in the first place.
Open Water: The closest thing out there to a SCUBA horror film, Open Water tells the true story of a husband and wife who were left out in the sea after a group diving trip. We won’t tell you the ending but don’t watch alone…

The majority of diving is done in the ocean and popular destinations include the Caribbean Sea, the South Pacific, Southeast Asia and the Red Sea. If there’s one place that stands out from all the rest, a true diver’s Nirvana, it has to be the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.

They don’t call it the ‘Great’ Barrier reef for nothing; it’s the largest living thing on the planet and even stands out from outerspace as the earthly icon that it is. It is 1500 miles in length, hosting 900 islands and it offers endless diving opportunities at sites that are good, great and some that are overwhelmingly unforgettable.

Heron Island may be the number one dive site in Australia with acres of coral reefs, sharks, rays, octopus and turtles. The wreck of the Yolanda is a must dive. The 394 foot ship sits on the bottom in crystal clear water and houses an amazing assortment of marine life. The Coral Sea, east of the reef is a marine wilderness with 3000 foot drop offs and where anything in the ocean may swim by.

Divers come from around the globe to dive the reef and find an underwater slice of Heaven

For adventure seekers, SCUBA diving is one of the greatest explorations. It takes a little bit of know how, and some practice, but once a person masters the art of diving and staying under water, the world below the surface really opens up. Finding the best places in North America to SCUBA dive isn’t too hard, as there are a great deal of options to explore. Consider two major options, and then look for other great scenic options to explore.

The first location a person might want to look at in regards to SCUBA diving is none other than off the cost of Hawaii. Confused? Here‘s a little help . The Hawaiian islands are beautiful, majestic, and offer some amazing landscapes on land, but below the surface lies a world of wonder and majesty. From colorful sea life, to all sorts of different reef, and beyond. Diving off the coasts of the Hawaiian Islands is one of the top destination spots for divers.

Another amazing place to SCUBA dive at is off the southern coast of Florida. The opposite end of the United States provides some amazing, warm waters, and breath taking under water views. Specifically off the key’s of Florida, a world often times overlooked is ready to be explored.
