The Best Places In South America To SCUBA Dive

Many people around the world enjoy scuba diving. For some the sport is a relaxing way to enjoy the beauty of an underwater reef. For others scuba diving is all about the excitement of exploring a shipwreck or an underwater cave. There are many excellent diving destinations around the world. Some beautiful and exciting diving can be found just off the coasts of South America. The following are the best places to scuba dive in South America:

Brazil- Pedras Secas, Noronha. This site is a protected national park with warm water, caverns to explore, and an extensive reef. The marine life here is plentiful.

Ecuador- Galapagos Islands, Darwin Island. The water at this site is cold, and a thick wetsuit is required. Darwin Island is the place to go to see large marine life such as whale sharks, manata rays, sea turtles and hammerheads.

Columbia- San Andres Island. This dive site features a sunken ship, as well as a sunken 737 to explore. There is a lot of marine life, including larger animals such as barracuda and stingrays.

Argentina- Valdez Penninsula. This is a cold water site; a thick wetsuit is required. This area is a marine wildlife reserve; it is very common to see dolphins, whales, sea lions, seals, and penguins.
